designing more
In sketch up were are now getting more detailed with color and persistent with smaller items, for example.. door knobs, stairs, door frames, shelves, etc. We've been making some of the door knobs to appear as wood because our goal is to make our house comfortable to be in especially having natural lighting from the glass walls. Almost done all of the levels except in process of creating rooms and adding beds, toilets, hallways, etc. We'll approximately be done most of the floors by the end of this week, then after that we'll start our physical visual. Trying our best to make our physical visual as much like our sketch up as possible.

The Garden Hybrid House Walk Through
The Garden Hybrid main structure of the house is made up of four shipping crates; the entrance facing horizontal that includes the master bedroom crate being placed on top. The entrance to the house will include main eating area as a long dinning room table for eight, a shoe rack beside the entrance door, a couch facing the large glass window into the garden, and a staircase in the corner to lead up to the master bedrooms. As for the master bedroom it
The two other crates will be connected vertically on either ends of the main floor horizontal crate. The right crate will contain the living room, kitchen and a small long counter that faces the glass window wall to the garden with three to four round stools for it. In between the right and main horizontal crate will be a small area of two separate rooms; one room being a small bathroom, and the other being the utility room. On the left crate will be a 2 bedroom area with a connected bathroom in between. There will be no glass wall on the left side to help keep the privacy for bedrooms but just regular windows. The farthest room will have a double bed and mini walk in closet. The closet room to the main crate will have a singular bed and a closet cupboard .

Lane Way House Walk Through
Walking up the stairs, you enter the open concept main living space. Directly to your left is a television and curved lounge couch, creating privacy for the quiet lounge and bookshelf area. Behind the couch is a formal dining table, parallel the kitchen counter. The kitchen forms an 'L' shape, hugging the outside walls to create optimum work space. Beside the kitchen sink, along a glass wall, is the informal dinning area which peers onto a green belt. Sliding doors separate the bedroom from the main living space and allow a wide opening. The bedroom has a short glass wall to provide natural light but keep privacy. A long closet sits on the back wall, beside the bathroom door. The bathroom has a double sink counter, toilet, shower, and separate door accessible from the main living space. Beside the bathroom, and surrounded by the quiet lounge, is the office. The office is equipped with plentiful shelving and a long desk for work space. The desk is lined along a glass wall, giving optimal views and natural light for working. The office leads to a standard laundry room and storage room.

Our current project is the 'Garden Hybrid' which implements a fusion between earth and infrastructure. We're using recycled shipping containers as the modular skeleton, and shaping the containers to circle around the yard. This 'C' shape appears to grow around the yard gravitating in the center of the house. Pure glass frames the inner walls, facing directly into nature and allowing visions of green and natural light within the confines of the home. Green roofs sit on top of the crates, allowing water absorption and re-purposing. The master bedroom perches on the second floor with a dreamesque view of the forest, and carries solar paneling upon its roof. the 'Garden Hybrid' blends in part with the earth and emphasizes the coalition between man and environment. Besides various environmental standards, the 'Garden Hybrid' creates constant appreciation and interaction with nature and educates the importance of respecting our environment. We chose the name hybrid to symbolize the blend of design, and its connotations, with the pureness of earth. As well, the 'Garden Hybrid' has a range of functions and features.
